Generation Y
August 5, 2014
Back in November, I was taking a 3-month long Human Resources Management course and they touched on a topic about different generations and how they affect the workforce. I know some are familiar with the term “Generation X”, which talks about people born between 1965 – 1979. Now, Generation Y, or “Millennials”; my generation. We are also coined as “echo boomers” and it is derived from the size of the specific generation in relation to the Baby boomers generation, given the world wide increase in births between 1980’s to the 1990’s (Gibson, R. 2013).
RIP MJ!!!!!
Despite being born in this category (yes, I’m an 80’s baby; Thriller came out a few months before I was born.), I shake my head with this younger generation coming behind me. Kids coming out the closet at 3 years old (I don’t have a problem with the LGBT community by no means, but my “future kid” can wear pink shoes & a dress when he can pay his own bills), “twerking” in loaded @%#$ diapers, and just SSSSOOOOOO disrespectful. I just want to scream or slap the crap out of them (*or make the face below). It was bad enough when the school shootings started (i.e. Columbine & VA Tech), but it’s becoming worse now.
SMDH…….
I blame PARENTS for this crisis. Not teachers, preachers, or Miley Cyrus!!!
These parents have these children and need to be responsible for their SOULS!!! I do not know if it’s parents working double shifts and never home or whatever the reason, but I hope this changes soon. I see our generation going to HELL in a hand basket….with gasoline!
XOXO,
Tijera
